Judy Y. Barrasso, Commissioner

Judy Y. Barrasso is a founding member of the law firm of Barrasso Usdin Kupperman Freeman & Sarver, LLC, a New Orleans litigation firm ranked among the top litigation firms in Louisiana. Ms. Barrasso was recognized by Chambers USA Client's Guide as one of the "Outstanding Litigators in the State," and ranked as one of the top commercial litigators. She was recognized as among the top ten lawyers in the state of Louisiana by Super Lawyers and by Lawdragon as among the Lawdragon 500 Leading Litigators in America. She is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Society of Barristers. She also was named as one of the Best Lawyers in America since 2001. In addition to her practice, Ms. Barrasso regularly teaches as an adjunct professor at Tulane Law School, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy, and at continuing legal education programs throughout the United States. She previously served as chair of the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board during 2005.

Ms. Barrasso also is actively involved in professional and civic activities. She was a Young Leadership Council Role Model in 2004, New Orleans CityBusiness Top 50 Lawyers in New Orleans in 2005, CityBusiness Women of the Year in 2001, and a YWCA Role Model in 2000. She serves as a Commissioner for the Downtown Development District and previously served on the Board of Directors of the Pro Bono Project, the Anti-Defamation League, and Summerbridge.
