The Downtown Development District created this packet to be a handy reference for the business community, city agencies, and members of the public to better understand New Orleans’ land‐use regulatory process. It should be keep in mind, however, that this is packet is merely a guide, and the information contained herein should under no circumstances be considered authoritative or final. Transcription and other errors are inevitable. Any inquiries seeking clarification should be addressed to the DDD and/or City Planning Commission. To ensure the greatest possible accuracy and consistency, much of the text was adapted directly from the city’s official Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance, available online at http://municipalcodes.lexisnexis.com/codes/neworleans/ .

This guide is intended to revolve around the “Regulatory Flow Chart” included. Embeded hyperlinks connect the flow chart to additional pages that further detail the procedures, provisions, and stipulations within each step along the way.
