Retail Support for New Orleans The renaissance is occurring! There is a new wave of activity and development on historic Canal Street and the sparkle of vibrant retailers are beginning to transcend throughout the area. Although we have a positive wave of momentum, we have a need for more businesses and services that cater to downtown residents and workers. Take a close look at Canal Street. Between the Summer of 2008 and by the end of the first quarter of 2009, eleven businesses have decided to make Canal Street home. These businesses represent a new generation of entertainment, retail and residential which have helped play a role in the Canal Street revitalization efforts.
Retail Opportunities are available on Canal Street and a variety of attractive spaces are available:
The Downtown Development District has a big vision and dynamic strategy to bring Canal Street into a 21st century direction. Our vision for Downtown includes a variety of never before seen uses, including new coffeehouses, restaurants, cafes, clothing, shoes, accessories, home/furniture and jewelry operators. Downtown already boasts a bustling visitor industry and strong daytime business community. The $70 billion MCLNO and VA hospitals, along with a series of new residential developments, will push the envelope of the services and goods that Downtown currently offers and opportunities to play a role in this transformation are available. |
"I not only have my business downtown, but I live downtown! I am enjoying being a part of the revitalization of the warehouse/arts district as a gallery owner." -Jean Bragg, owner, Jean Bragg Gallery |
