The Downtown Development District has a big vision and dynamic strategy to bring Canal Street into a 21st century direction. Our vision for Downtown includes a variety of never before seen uses, including new coffeehouses, restaurants, cafes, clothing, shoes, accessories, home/furniture and jewelry operators. Downtown already boasts a bustling visitor industry and strong daytime business community. The $70 billion MCLNO and VA hospitals, along with a series of new residential developments, will push the envelope of the services and goods that Downtown currently offers and opportunities to play a role in this transformation are available.
