| | Monumental Sculpture Towers Over Downtown Sculpture for New Orleans, an on-going exhibition placing monumental sculptures around New Orleans, has installed two incredible works of art Downtown this week, bringing the current total number of Downtown installations to nine. Project leaders anticipate anywhere from seven to 15 more could be installed in the next year.
"As a sponsor of Sculpture for New Orleans, the DDD is dedicated to seeing this program grow. We share the project leaders' vision to see Downtown's main corridors lined with more world-class sculptures, bringing New Orleans' visual arts to national and international attention," says DDD President & CEO Kurt Weigle. American sculptors John Henry and Karen Garrett finished installing their sculptures this week. Henry's "Zach's Tower" was completed Tuesday and is now on display at the Plaza of Good Fortune at Harrah's Casino which faces Poydras Street at the corner of Convention Center Boulevard. The "Garrett Horse," named for the artist, is on display at the Louisiana Children's Museuem and is sure to delight visitors young and old.
